Effct (effct.io) is a sound design tool for video. You upload a finished cut, and Effct places ambience, sound effects, whooshes and impacts across the whole video, in sync with the picture, and mixes them. Every sound lands on a timeline as its own clip, so you can move, trim, swap or remove it. Effct does the first pass; you make the calls.

What does Effct do?

Effct analyzes the video frame by frame, works out the places, actions and cuts, and picks sounds for each from its library: the room or street you're in, the footsteps and doors you see, and the whooshes and impacts that sell a cut. It places them in sync and balances the mix. The sounds are real recordings made by the Effct team, plus CC0-licensed effects.

How does it work?

Upload a video. MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV or WEBM. A project covers up to 20 minutes; longer videos are split into 20-minute projects.
Effct places the sound design. Processing usually takes minutes; longer videos take longer.
Review the timeline. Each sound is its own clip, grouped into ambience, actions and design. Regenerate any clip and pick from new options, add a sound by describing it, change levels, or delete what you don't want.
Export. Every paid plan exports a QuickTime file with the mixed sound. Creator and up adds WAV stems, one per sound category. Pro and up adds an AAF for Premiere Pro and other editors.

Does Effct work in Premiere Pro?

Yes. The Effct panel for Premiere Pro 25.6 or later loads your active sequence and adds the sound design as clips on your timeline. Get it on Adobe Exchange; it needs a paid plan.

How much does Effct cost?

Plans are monthly (October 2026): Starter $12 for 12 minutes of video a month, Creator $29 for 30 minutes (adds stems and mood and layer controls), Pro $49 for 90 minutes, then $0.80 a minute (adds AAF), and Agency $149 for 200 shared minutes. See current pricing.

Yes. Sign up and Effct sound-designs the first 30 seconds of one video for free, with ambience and design sounds, so you can hear it on your own footage in the editor. No credit card. Exporting needs a paid plan; upgrade and your trial project becomes exportable. Every new account also gets demo projects to explore. Try it on your own video.

What Effct doesn't do

Effct doesn't make music. It does the sound design around your music and dialogue, and on paid plans your video's own sound comes into the project too, on its own tracks.
