How do I edit the sounds Effct places in my video?

Every sound Effct places is its own clip on the timeline, so you can change any of it. Drag a clip to move it, drag its edges to trim it, regenerate it to hear new options, add a sound by describing it, and set the level of each sound category. When it sounds right, export the mix, stems or an AAF, depending on your plan.

Before you start

Upload your video from New Project: drag and drop it, or choose Select Video File. Effct analyzes the picture and fills the timeline with ambience, action sounds and design sounds like whooshes and impacts. On the free trial it sound-designs the first 30 seconds with ambience and design sounds.

How do I move or trim a sound?

Drag a clip along its track to change when it plays. Drag either edge to trim where it starts or ends. Use this to land a hit on the exact frame where a door shuts or a cut lands.

How do I swap a sound I don't like?

Select the clip and choose Regenerate. Effct offers new options for that moment; pick the one that fits.

How do I add a sound that isn't there?

Add a clip and describe the sound, for example "heavy wooden door closing" or "distant thunder". Effct finds a match in its library and places it.

How do I balance the mix?

Select a clip and press the up or down arrow to change its volume in 2 dB steps. Mute a track, or use Category Levels to raise or lower whole categories (ambience, actions, design) and mute or solo them. Exports render the mix you hear in the editor.

How do I remove a sound?

Select it and press Delete.

How do I export?

• QuickTime (.mov) with the mixed sound: every paid plan.
• WAV stems, one per sound category: Creator and up.
• AAF for Premiere Pro and other editors: Pro and up.

The Effct panel (Premiere Pro 25.6 or later, paid plans) does the same from your active sequence: click Load Sequence, then Add Sound Design, and the clips land on your timeline. Get it on Adobe Exchange.
